So, I'm in the Manga Art Exchange -- which , despite the name, has lots of styles of art, but is an art exchange. Basic principle is to give Hawk (the admin) a page with information and pictures of original characters of yours. Hawk mixes them up, gives everyone an artist aand we take 2 weeks to draw something for that person. I have an entire section giving bios of my characters, links to reference pictures, the source material I have available (and Cliff's Notes), and so on.
Recently, it seems, a lot of people just give links to their DevART galleries and leave it at that. And then have comments like 'This is my character X, isn't he cute!'. Which is hard -- I am very uncreative when it comes with poses, so, unless I can get a sense of the character, you get a Boring Portrait. Which bothers me, as I signed up for MAX to force myself to draw things (especially new things). Yes, this is helping me refine my lineart and CG skills, and work on my anatomy, but I feel bad when I turn out something so boring. ((After a couple of these 'I'll give you my gallery and let you figure things out' people, I promised myself anyone with a comic/story/detailed bios got a picture that showed I had looked at it -- sort of a carrot for not being lazy))
