Chances are people you don't even know are being introduced to your journal every day, either randomly or through someone else. In addition to recent entries, people can get to know you better by what you posted in the past. With that in mind post a link to your entries on this day three months ago, six months ago, nine months ago, a year ago, and two years ago. If there was no entry on that day, link the closest date.

Found my password for Cornell. Hooray! My neighbor also spotted me waiting for the bus and offered me a ride into work. Double Hoory!

The downside was I misread the directions and burnt my lunch in the building's microwave, so I had to run to Subway. And I am feeling utterly listless, so will probably get little done at work.

Is it odd that when I have to think of how to sum up my characters quickly, I usually get images and feelings, instead of words?

Posted a 'Am I the only one who doens't really want Sirius to come back because I think it would devalue the stuff Rowling is trying to portray (and it's damn difficult to bring back someone you kill and making it convincing*)?' in a HP discussion. So far I've had one comment, and that person was agreeing with me.

* Will include some of the authors I read. [START Spoilers for A Song of Ice and Fire and probably Fullmetal Alchemist]

Martin pulls it off well in his third book, as he had already established resurrection was possible, if what's-his-face-the-god has use for you, and by pointing out that even resurrection magic is limited -- Caitlin Stark may have come back from the dead, but her throat was too damaged for her to speak. Steven Burst doens't count, as pretty much anyone with an intanct soul, no brain injuries, and no magic preventing it can be revived within three days of death. FMA actually handles it reasonably well in the anime (and probably the manga, but have only read the first volume), because they stick to 'equivalent exchange' and the caveat that only someone very recently dead can have their soul retrieved from the Gate and trying on anyone else will only produce a Homonucleus that resembles the person. (Healing Ed from a mortal injury near the end required full use of the Philospher's Stone (which is bad as it happened to be contianed in Al's body). Ed had to give up an arm just to retrieve Al's soul, and Ed has to give up a recently-retrieved arm, Al's memories of the last four years, and his position on that side of the Gate to get Al's body back (working from memory there -- need to see the end again).] Can't think of any other examples off of the top of my head, aside from how silly things can get if you abuse the resurrectiopn plot -- I have friends who are X-men fans.

Dear Students,
I am a TA. They did not give me this job because I look cute beside a telescope. Therefore, you can assume I know more astronomy than you. So, please, do not try to cheat on these assignments. At least, do not copy spectra from online -- if you had listened to us, you would have heard that the spectra shown go farther into the purple than the human eye does and show faint features that wouldn't be visible necessarily. Also streetlights tend to be coated, which means that they seldom will produce perfect mercury or sodium spectra. So, please, don't cheat -- or, if you do, please don't do so by asuming I'm stupid.

No love,
Rebecca the Astrnomy 103 TA.

PS: The streetlights are not filled with neptunium. The EPA would have a fit if they were. Nor is the incandescent bulb made of any of the radioactive elements near the bottom of the periodic table.
---
These are in no particular order:

1. Finish grading the spectroscope projects. Avoid killing any of the students who I think copied/cheated/scribbled something unrecognizable down.

2. Finish the two fanlisting layouts (Webcomics and Mille form Lost Universe) I'm outstanding on.

3. Finish the layout for the BESM fansite I promised TheBouncyPherret on the GoO message board (the template is made, but I need to link pages together)

4. Update my deviantART account with the artwork that I have that isn't up there.

5. Work on my art backlog.

6. Finish the fanfiction I'm writing for mm.org's spring contest and get a beta. It's due at the end of April, and I'm only about five pages in (it should be 15-20 pages long, pushing the upper length limit).

7. Update my comic.

8. Work on the various RPG projects I keep attempting to do.

So, I'm the Romance Judge on Mediaminer's Annual Big-Ass Ficiton Contest, something which I am never doing again. And I read through the first nine (of over forty) excepts today...

Dear Yami Malik/Yami Yuugi author,
You are a sweet person, and a fellow judge. However, if you are going to send me Yugioh fic that not only contradicts canon as currently known so badly that me, who just listens to sabonasi rant on her LJ (which I am willing to forigve if you were 'jossed'*), but throws in a numebr of relationships between characters that just seem to be there for no reason -- they most certainly not canon, and I have no clue how they would even happen. Now, I realize that you only sent me an except, but would it kill you to include a note like 'This is what happened thus far' or 'this is an AU'? Next year, I'm asking Psy (guy in charge of the contest) to make it clear that whatever non-Romance category I run, a 'Story Thus Far' paragraph is a required part of the entry to me. Which only means people will forget it -- you have no idea how many people I had to harass for incomplete entry forms.

* piece of fan terminology I picked up from Buffy fandom -- 'to be jossed' is to have future canon events contradict your fanfic.

Dear Miroku/Kagome author,
Having a female character infatuated wiht a male character that is different from her canon/traditional pairing is all wella nd good. I even like the way you handled her feelings for both -- could be off, but you didn't try to ignore the canon, and that I like. However... the plot of having her slip something into his food for an insta-Lemon? Creepy at best and borderline-rape at worse. Not romantic.

P. S. Giving me an acceptance speech (we have authors sumbit a statment to be used if they win with the entry because finding them later can be a bitch) that bashes a certain pairing is a sure way to make me want to make sure you don't get to give it.

Dear Evangeleon Author,
Get a frickin beta-reader! I could watch your gramamr fall into the toilet.

Dear at Leats 1/3 of the Authors I have Reviewed Thus Far,
Yes, anime characters speak Japanese, what with the original release of the anime in Japan. Yes, some anime characters actually speak Japanese, what with them being from Japan in canon. That does not mean that you can translate everything into English for the benefit of the English-speaking reader but expressiosn that even a first-year student could get. And the fact that 'everyone' knows what hai means isn't an excuse -- evryone knows what bonjour and oui mean, but that does not mean Allen Schezar will suddenly start speaking French in my fanfic (when we all know the Gaeans speak Portugese ^_^).
And Author's Notes do not belong in the middle of a paragraph. Especially not when they are telling the reader you were too lazy to research Ancient Egyptian names.

There is a box sitting behind the Neihardt front desk. It is from Barnes and Noble.com to me. In it is manga and books and other wonderful, wonderful things.

I am not to pick it up until I finish the art that is due at midnight. Because, if I pick it up, I will open it, and if I open it, I will start reading, and then nothing much will get done, beside me fangirling Japanese authors and mangaka.

So the box says there until tomorrow. I needed something to do at work (if no students show up).

In other news, I got the spellchecker to work on my Journal client. No more badly typoed posts!

Two Years Ago
I finally managed to figure out who the hell is singing on the first track of the Best of Lost Universe CD -- unfortunatly not only was I wrong, but I've never heard of the guy and can't figure out why the hell he would cover an image song from a relativly obscure anime.
