Cartoons totally count as TV. Even Japanese cartoons.
So, Slayers. I'm inordinately fond of it. And I could pick Lina and Gourry, but I know I favor Zel/Amelia over them. Part of it could be that I just adore Zel and Amelia as characters. Or it could be what a friend of mine identified as a fandom effect -- the closer a couple is to being together, the less interest she had in fanfiction about them, because the canon fulfilled her 'cute moments' quota.
So, we have Amelia. Amelia is a somewhat naive but passionate white mage/martial artist/princess. She fights for Justice and against evil, and probably could pass as a magical girl or a sentai member. No, scratch that, she has done both of those. Amelia's backstory isn't completely tragedy free -- her mother was killed in an assassination attempt, her sister is missing on a training mission, and Slayers canon has had her and her father subject to two plots against them, both by family members.
And, Zelgadis. Zel is the non-human member of the main four, but not by his choice. His parents are dead and his great-grandfather had a piece of the Slayers-universe Most Powerful Force of Evil sealed within him, which made him both blind and eventually drove him crazy. And desperate -- Zel's current appearance is a result of Grandpa Rezo's experiments in making chimeras. Anyway, with Rezo dead, Zel devotes his life to seeking out something that will change him back to human. (And never finds it -- to the point of Evolution-R having Rezo's soul tell him it was impossible.)
The two are friends, and Amelia is portrayed as having a crush on Zel in canon. Zel, for his part, seems to be at least attracted to Amelia and enjoy her company. And interviews from the creator have it that Amelia's mother was a sorceress that her father met on his travels, so her father would probably be Thrilled! that his beloved daughter was in love, regardless of who the guy was. (Seriously, Amelia could walk in with someone she met in a gutter, and Phil would be congratulating the happy couple and pontificating about True Love.)
And, well, closure for Zel would be nice*. I don't think marriage and kids is a needed kind of closure for everyone, but at least the 'I am now traveling for me' is good. The friendship -- and, yes, love -- is also good, since Zel is portrayed as someone who kept people at a distance after losing his old band of noble thieves to Ancient Evil, and by looking like something that would lead a gang of demons into a town. Though I could argue that Rezo's 'it's impossible to turn you back' could be closure. But we get Zel looking like someone just crushed his puppy's skull in, a major distraction for a chase, saving a kingdom and fighting the piece of Shabranigdo still stuck to Rezo's soul, like a limpet, and then we get Amelia asking Zel if he's okay about the whole Rezo thing, and he nods. And a flash of him sailing in the epilogue.
So, I like imagining Zel with this kinship network that he had lost earlier, and with a family whose worst crime might be badgering him into costume or stealing his sandwiches, rather than performing experiments on him. And Amelia getting her own chance to try dating and love, since she wants it.
Plus, Slayers is a great place for people to have madcap adventures (see: yesterday) with friends and lovers.
* Clarification: for some, closure for Zel is that he's changed back to human. Me, I think Zel realizing his grandpa saw him as a lab rat was the bigger insult than being a chimera himself. And... well, getting his old body back would mean he'd have less of a reminder, but it won't magically heal the injury. Nor will true love, though being able to maintain close relationships could be a sign of closure.
