New fanfic theory!

The Harry Potter Critical Mass Theory
Once a fandom gets a certain 'critcial mass' of teenaged fans, a rip in the fandom's space-time develops that leads to the Harry Potter fandom. In other words, you get crossovers. I swear, find me a large (or even medium sized) fandom (with a decent precentage of teenagers), and you will find an unlikely crossover where Character X from Book-Anime-Movie-TVShow Y is accepted to Hogwarts. Without even looking for it, I've found Sailor Moon, Cardcaptor Sakura, Digimon, Escaflowne, Space Cases, Animorphs, Lord of the Rings... might have seen a Slayers one... No attempt is usually made to reconsile the differences between the worlds, especially in magic systems. (I think the CCS one might have attmepted it, but I read that 2 years ago)

I should put a rant about crossovers -- they are like AUs and OCs. Nothing wrong with them in theory, but in practice they can be some of the worse-written fiction you can find. Rule #1 for them is EXPLAIN WHAT THE HELL YOU'RE DOING!

I should be working, but Livejournal wouldn't let me make this entry last night, when I found the Escaflowne/HP crossover, buried with the high school AUs and the Mary Sues (and a Marty Stu).

The world would be a happier place if the Mary Sues all lusted after the Marty Stus. Ya know?

Stareyes's MOMC Picture Progress Report: 3 characters and the background done. 2 full characters and 4 groups of head shots left. At least 2 of those group shots need to be done (the ones of the villians). The kids and two other minor characters could be scraped (and will be, if I can't finsih them in time)
