Family Update...

Well, I went home on Saturday. I found out the reason I had to was because my father couldn't watch my borther because he had to go to Ireland because my paternal grandmother was on her last legs -- she's had Alsheimers for a while. They are not hopeful that her health will improve, which means soon I'll be down to my last grandparent. We always meant to go visit that side of the family -- my paternal grandmother has never seen my little brother, and hasn't seen me since kindergarten. Another regret, I suppose.

I also found out that my little brother has to have some dental work done -- filling a few cavities and sealing his teeth. However, because of his autism, the dentist wants to have it done under general anesthesia. Of course, insurance won't cover it, even if the dentist writes htem a letter explaining why general anesthesia is needed. Mom doesn't want to have to cut corners on something like this -- she knows enough about medicine to know that mistakes with general anesthesia can be fricken dangerous, especcially if it is not done in a hospital setting. But she really doesn't have the money -- Dad will probably end up paying for it.
