This makes the canon purist in me happy... because, really, those two didn't even have a friendship -- heck, I don't think Draco really knows anything about Ginny beyond she's Ron's little sister and in Gryffindor. They aren't in the same year, so you don't have the rivalry/bullying action going on (whihc is better covered under Rivalries, anyway). Really, a lot of D/G seemed to be the 'I like Draco, and I see Ginny as a strong female character, so...' (and that works for Hermione, too). Well, that and the need to ship everyone with everyone, which I hate even in trad./canon stories -- anything more than two couples a story (unless the couples are married, thus the ship cna be assumed -- bvut don't marry off people at random, it irks me.) tends to be poorly pulled off.

And people wonder why I am such an advocate for gen/friendship fic.
