Subject line comes from an essay [livejournal.com profile] zannechaos once wrote about fishing and Christians.

I want to know if there is some drug that makes people think that shouting at people and holding up threatening signs (I don't remember any quotes, but things along the line of 'Believe in Jesus or Go to Hell' certainly don't give me the warm, fuzzy, accepting feeling I would want if I ever entered organized religion) and generally making a nusiance of themsleves will win them followers with no negative side effects. I mena, honestly, the general student reaction seemed to be either mild annoyance, apathy, or a desire to point and laugh (someone near me was disappointed when they took the signs down, as she had went and gotten her camera). In other words, while these guys might be getting converts (which I doubt), they are also souring some students' opinions on Christianity and generallty making so the non-asshats of the religion have to work that much harder to overcome the attitude that Christianity is a judgemental, narrowminded, and bitchy religion. Not smart, guys -- it's not what you say, it's how you say it.

God, save me from Your followers.
