I had a dream my professor (Dr. Gaskell) and I (and I think my friend and coworker CeCe) had traveled back and time and were separated. It all had to do with a watch he had that I think people were after -- it was from the far future, but looked like an old pocket watch on a chain. Anyways, on his arrival to the past (it was about turn of the century), we were separated and he was attacked and his watch was stolen, because apparently it was important -- it was from farther in the future than either of us, and somehow predicted something weird happening between Europe and America sometime within the next 300 years that caused them to run on slightly different time systems. I disguise myself as some University employee (male, actually -- I have a hat jammed downb over my hair and my chest bound) -- I think a grad student -- and manage to get in to see him in a hospital. I also find his watch, sitting with a pile of other things while walking. The guy I am with makes an insinuation that someone likes to steal from the hospital guests.
Dr Gaskell's pretending to be a visiting professor, and I have to pick up what he wants me to do without letting on I know him. Basically, I am supposed to visit the university library and get some books for him. He is doing something with paper and pencil when we walk in -- clearly relativistic (keep in mind, this is pre-Einstein). When my companion (who I think is a student my age) makes an odd comment about the math, I quickly say something about those Germans and their newfangled ideas.
They guy with me goes away, and I drop the Boston accent I've been using, and manage to get the details from him. He tells me to put the watch back where I found it and go on with the errands I am running -- somehtign about preserving the time stream. The current plan for returning is to basically do a series of hops through other timelines to get home. I leave, dropping the watch off at a co-worker's desk -- for the record, I think this is a bad idea -- and return with the books. We talk again, and, at that time, CeCe walks in, dressed as a woman in white and pink. We have to explain things again to her now. And that's about when I woke up.
