-- Wilkinson and Penzais: Close -- these guys verified the Big Bang model over the Steady State model -- but they didn't discover it
-- Edmund Halley: Wrong century, and wrong field -- Haaley was more of a mathematician than an observer
-- William Herschel: Again, wrong century and field. William discovered Uranus. He wouldn't know a spectrum if one bit him.
