A couple of months back, I complained about some irritating person (original post here, and Fandom Wank post here) on the Blue Rose forum. Basically, the gist of it is that someone on that board likes the system but not the setting of the RPG, because the setting is a very accurate simulcrum of a Misty Lackey/Tamora Pierce/etc. book. Now, this is fine -- I'm iffy about the genre (it's fluff, to be honest) -- I like it better as a gamer than a reader, though. What isn't good is that he insists on mocking the setting/genre on the message board. Now, eventually the admins just said 'Fine. Here's your system-only forum. Stop harrassing the people who like the setting." And you think this was the end of it.

Nope. Apparently the guy is going to continue to post there. And he will conmtinue to insult the setting. And now half the board hates him, so will be looking for him to insult the setting, so will be extra-sensitive. And he seems to take this as extra encouragement that he should stay because they are trying to drive him out. And he's already been warned by the mods once for being a jackass (ironically, when he threatened to call down the mods on other posters).

The logic is not strong with this one. I think I will ignore him until he goes away.

This was inspired by a discussion topic in the mm.org forums on whether good art comes more from talent or practice.

Talent versus Determination )

Determination is teh wai! You can keep your naturally-gifted magical-swordsmen-royalty. Give me the character who spent 15 years working his butt off to learn magic because he wanted to be the best.
