Finished Hellsing Volume 7
Nov. 6th, 2005 01:43 amHave come to the conclusion that all characters in the Hellsing manga are:
1) Killed. (some of them get better)
2) Driven nuts.
3) Start out nuts.
That and war dehumanizes everyone.
Seriously, of the leaders of the three sides, the Major has probably been nuts (and a vampire) since at least the 1940's. Integra Hellsing (aka in charge of protecting England from vampires) has pretty much given the blanket okay to Alucard to do what he has to to get Maxwell and the Major's forces off British soil. Speaking of Enrico Maxwell, he's all 'Let's kill the heathens!' in Volume 7 when in Crossfire (three manga short stories set before Hellsing) he's more 'I don't give a damn what the heathens do as long as they don't mess with the Vatican' (and then goes on to say that cultists trying to assassinate the Pope = messing with the Vatican).
Also, Seras Victoria wins points for being a strong character since she seems to be the only one with some degrees of humanity left, despite being undead. Especially considering her backstory gives her no reason to like most of humanity.
