Games and TV and stuff

The first episode of the TV version of The Dresden Files is being offered for free on iTunes. (I tell you, buying the three shows that would require cable are cheaper than upgrading my cable to get them plus then getting a VCR/DVD-R and learning how to record stuff to watch later.) Granted, turning books into TV shows isn't always a recipe for good things, and, well... the Sci-Fi channel did that Earthsea adaptation that went down in infamy -- I haven't read any reviews, but the fans were already bitching about changing Murphey's name and Bob's backstory/appearance. On the other hand, if they can stay in the spirit of the books, I'll be happy.
Review pending me tearing myself away from FF9 to watch. I've got a bunch of downloaded backlog to watch.
Speaking of FF9... God, I love this game. I had problems getting into the other original-Playstation Final Fantasies because I kinda prefer the less-modern feel 9 has. Plus, I like a lot of the settings (and the graphics), even if half of them had this tendency to get invaded right before/after I showed up. And I do not hate the ability-learning system -- am occasionally frustrated with it, since it takes a while for everyone to learn their moves, leaving them stuck with weaker weapons. I think I'm still a sword behind with Zidane and Steiner.
