So, playing FF9. I'm just about to go to the Outer Continent, but first I'm backtracking to get all the Chocographs, since last time I played, I didn't do that until Disk 3 and ended up with a bunch of stuff I couldn't use. Plus, Chocobo Hot and Cold gives me a lot of Potions and status-curing elements, and I even got a Tent and a Phoenix Pinion.
Steiner amused me in my first play-through, and he continues to do so. I have a thing for duty-bound characters, as anyone who monitors my gaming habits knows (::looks at her collection of clerics and paladins and knightly characters::). I'm not liking Freya as much, mainly because the Fratly subplot was a lot more compelling as a teenager -- but some of the things, like her interactions in Burmecia and Cleyra are good. Currently she, Steiner and General Beatrix are off, presumably in Treno. Writing fic about the three of them -- especially between Freya and Beatrix, since Beatrix was involved heavily in the invasion of Burmecia and the destruction of Cleyra, and suddenly Freya and she are on the same side. Yeah, that's got to be awkward.
Really, I like most of the characters -- I didn't care much for Amarant, Quina and Eiko on my first play-through, but I'll see how that changes now.
I also got Firefly on DVD, since it was on sale today. And spent a bit too much on books -- I'm not going to the bookstore next week. I probably won't need to.
