Two things...
First, if you have a handy pair of binoculars, Comet Lulin should be visible passing between Saturn and Regulus. This is probably more for the people who know their way around the sky. Here's a map. If the map makes sense, go give it a try. If you live out in the middle of nowhere, you might even see it without binoculars. (Protip -- if you can see all the stars in the Little Dipper, your site is dark enough. From Ithaca, I can usually only see Polaris and the two stars at the edge of the bowl of the dipper.)
Second, even if you don't know Regulus from a hole in the ground, this week is Beauty Without Borders! Basically go outside after sunset on a clear night and look to the west to see Venus shining. And, if you do it on the 28th (the day after my birthday!), the crescent Moon will be by the Evening Star.
