Productive Day
Sep. 5th, 2010 08:14 pmThis weekend has been good for me. I got grocery shopping done, went to the bookstore*, finished a book (nearly), picked up all the supplies for the Halloween Doll Costume Swap at
ag_over_18, and for my own Halloween costume (Utena!), and then cleaned the living room and kitchen (bathroom is next week). Plus, retired a character in a LJ RPG, did the remaining copy-edits for a fanfic, finished a sock and got the cuff done on its mate, and watched anime.
(Also happened to catch my adviser and his postdoc out for lunch with out-of-town guests. Ithaca is smaller than I realize sometime. Also, shock that I actually picked someone out of the crowd -- normally people can walk right up to me and I don't see them until they say something.)
I still need to pick up a wig, shoes, socks and shorts for the Utena -- I'm thinking of just buying the shorts and shoes online, and the wig too. I'm making the jacket and I have a shirt to wear under the jacket. I also fond some gold braid with a rose pattern that I'll end up using on the epaulets -- yeah, I know it was plain, but... roses! As for my swap costume -- well, who knew lycra was so expensive? I ended up getting costuming satin, despite the amount of swearing at costuming satin I did last year.
As for writing, I did all the copy-editing that my beta suggested, but I'm going to try to do some line-editing before I post tomorrow. Which probably means I'll start losing words -- I'm already 5k below what I was supposed to have for this Big Bang, but...
Huh. Wonder if I should head to work to do science tomorrow or stay home and paint. I mean, I know what I want to do... no, actually I don't. I like doing science as much as painting.

* I picked up A Star Shall Fall by
swan_tower (aka Marie Brennan), An Artificial Night by the Campbell-award-winning
seanan_mcguire, and Paths of the Sun by Violette Malan (who doesn't have a LJ, that I know of). It's still weird to realize that you can have conversations with authors over the Intertubes.
