So, I watched The Avatar and the Firelord. Good episode, even if it was a bit info-dumpy regarding events of 200 to 100 years before the present.

Also, I bet someone caught this -- Roku's dragon is red. Sozin's was blue. Remember Zuko's vision?

This also makes the timeline wonkier. I mean, we already have Avatar Kyoshi living over 200 years. Now, we have Sozin being a contemporary of Roku's, and Roku being in his 60s when he dies (young for an Avatar, but supports the white hair and wrinkles) -- that leaves 172 years between Sozin's birth and the present. If we assume that each of Sozin's descendants fathered children at 40 (old for a man, especially a noble), and there are 10 years between Ozai and Iroh (a lot, but Iroh does look a lot older), that still would leave room for another generation between Sozin and Zuko (40 + 50 + 40 = 130 years). I'm guessing that the creators just didn't think about that when making out the Fire Nation's royalty.

I also don't know whether to be amused by the emphasis put on the parallels between Zuko and Aang and Sozin and Roku, or to be cranky that Zuko apparently occupies the position not because he is in the line for leadership of the Fire Nation and about Aang's age, thus making him the best person to heal a rift between the Fire Nation and the world (represented by the Avatar), but because he's the great-grandson of both the previous Avatar as well. Why not just come out and make him Sozin's reincarnation as well, show? (Though anything to kick Zuko in the butt when he needs it is good -- and, it also gives me fic bunny ideas for the AU I'd like to write.)

I also want to go back and check out the Waterbeing Teacher, Earthbending Teacher and Roku's wife, to see if the creators were trying to drop hints that they were reincarnated into people Aang knows as well. (If they were Aang's friends, it means at least one reincarnated as the opposite gender -- but, technically so has Roku-Aang -- and one across nations. I would so laugh if Roku's wife was reincarnated as someone weird, like Sokka. But, I'd bet the Aang/whoever shippers would try to say it's whoever they ship Aang with.

I predict massive amounts of reincarnation fic from this episode. Not that it already doesn't exist.
