beccastareyesI had a bad case of insomnia on Saturday, which carried into sleeping in to nearly noon on Sunday. As a result, I wasn't able to get to sleep until 2 AM Monday morning.
Strangely, despite running on something like 5-6 hours of sleep, I feel really good. Work is going quickly, and I'm not slacking off on the internet, except to make this entry. I'm even feeling okay with the fact I have to stay late for government stuff.
Now, to look into 'begging people for money' and making hotel reservations. These two things are related -- I'm going to a conference in May in scenic Virginia Beach, and the university is willing to pay for one conference per year per grad student*.
* I assume because it makes them look good to get more of us, and have us all and our advisers get more money from NASA. Basically a way of saying 'We're full of smart people -- smart people should come here, and people with money should invest in these smart people'. All that for paying me to give a talk on Hyperion to a bunch of other astronomers.
