So, anyone who doesn't want to hear me complaining about my minor health problems should skip the stuff under the cut.

Two weeks ago, I went in to get my sinuses looked at, since it felt like someone had filled my head with goo -- basically, everything in my head hurt or felt pressed on. The doctor -- who was seriously awesome about talking to me about what the hell was wrong, what my options were, what he recommended and why, and when I should do follow-up -- gave me some nasal spray which was supposed to help the mucus drain from my sinuses and suggested treating my symptoms since there was no obvious sign the gunk in my head was infected gunk.

Flash forward to yesterday. At this time, I hadn't been to work in several days because I still had pressure in my head, and the pain was still present but moving from headache to 'head plus one ear'. Also, a sore throat, cough and minorly runny nose, but I expected that as normal -- but it meant I had to use a surgical mask in the waiting room. So I went back for the doctor who looked for changes in my ears/nose/throat area. (By the way, having your ears flushed does so hurt, even if the nurse says it doesn't. Or maybe I just have freakishly sensitive ears so that even having water squirted into them bothers me. The whole 'persistent earache' probably didn't help.) Since my symptoms were getting worse, now I'm on antibiotics to kill anything (well, any bacteria) that's decided my sinuses are their new winter home.

Anyway, I still feel like crap, may have contagious crap, but could probably still get work done. But, since it's grad school, all my work currently is writing papers* and my boss is away (and not checking on me), I could also go home and sleep.

Well, I could cart my laptop home and write from there. But motivation is lacking.

Planning on spending my Friday night coloring art, considering [personal profile] anke has extended more than enough patience waiting on me finishing my [livejournal.com profile] mrcaex piece. After that I have archives to update -- I got an account at Artician and PaperDemon, so I want to play around and see if I like them. (And engage in the quest of 'how far back do I keep art around before it's all crap I hate'.)

* I do have active research, but it is currently stalled in the 'I should ask someone about this code because it is both doing exactly what it is supposed to do AND not returning a useful answer'. Basically, I am trying to find the best curve drawn through some data, and the program, depending on what method I use, does one of the following:
1. Returns my first guess to me immediately as its best guess.
2. Takes one step, then returns that guess, despite the fact that, by my eye, it looks worse than the first guess.
3. Goes off on a wild goose chase to give me something that looks worst than the first guess AND means something that cannot be actually true.
