Amelia applied the finishing touches to the make up job. Normally, she wasn't the sort to wear it, except for state occasions, and then, only a bit to accent her features. After all, the human face was naturally full of imperfections, and it didn't look right at all to hide all of them. And she NEVER had to wear this much. But, desperate times called for desperate measures.
She had had another fight with Zelgadis. It was the usual topic. He would mention his cure, she would show something less than complete and utter dedication and devotion to the idea, he would jump on that... well, more like go quiet and passive aggressive. 'No, it's not like my happiness matter to you, Amelia. I know you're a busy person and all. You have more important things to worry about than one miserable sorcerer swordsman. Besides, it's not like you know what it's like to be a chimera...' That's right, Mister Zelgadis, make it seem like it's all my fault you expect everyone to care that you are still a chimera and unhappy about it. If she were Lina, she might find something and give Zel a good whack upside the head. Thankfully, politics had taught her a bit more subtlety.
She dusted the powder over her face, hoping that would set the makeup underneath. She then went for the door... only to turn back at the last moment. Grabbing a cloak and hood, she covered her face as best she could, and left her room.
She knocked on the door to Zel's inn room. "Enter," a gruff voice informed her.
"Hello, Mister Zelgadis."
"Hello, Amelia." Zel was seated, facing the window. Typical melancholy pose.
"I have something to tell you. Can you look at me?"
Zel turned to do so. "What's with the cloak indoors?"
"Well, I've come to the conclusion that you ARE right and I can't know what it's like to be a chimera. So, I decided to try to find out." She undid the cloak, letting Zel see what she had done to her face.
Zel's eyes widened in shock. Amelia ran towards him. "It's okay, Mister Zelgadis! I..."
Zel fainted dead away. "I meant to say it's only makeup," Amelia sighed.
I was bored, so I decided to try writing this... it was bloody hard, because I only had 15 minutes.
