So, anyways, I think I surprised everyone in roleplaying last night. My character was kinda viewed as a pretty weak one, despite the levels in Paladin he's been taking. A lot of it is because I roll very badly on damage and all the other non-magic-users use guns or a mix of melee weapons and guns, while my character is the only straight-melee combat person.

So, anyways. my character gets challanged to single combat as a way to win passage through an area we need passage through, and despite my sucky initiative roll., my character managed to critcal the guy and he goes down in one round. Shocked statres from all. The guy's companions manage to surrender, and I got to roleplay out the torute versus non-torture arguement with the group.

We also got a funny scene when we found a young dragon that was assigned to kill us once we met up with him. After the party mages failed to convincce him that he really didn't want to kill us, he attacked and the party pyromaniac cleric tried to hurt him by aiming her firewall to a 'sensitive area' beneath the dragon. Now, the dragon was surprised, but jumped back behind the firewall, and the cleric refused to dispell it. Because my character is pretty useless outside of melee combat -- he refuses to use offensive magic for religious reasons and he's not that good of a spellcaster anyway -- he quickly slaps a protection spell on himself and goes in after it.

So, the party can't see him, the dragon or the wizard's fire elemental she summoned to drop on the dragon's head, but my character is calling out directions as to where the dragon is. So, our party's techno mage decides to wave the Wand of Wonder the GM let her have, and gets informed that anythign inanimate the beam hit is now etherial. It is pointed out that if this had hit the dragon and my character, the dragon might be annoyed, but my characater would be unarmed, without his armor or shield, and stark naked. Our other male character's player was feelign icky and not there, so of course we got a long string of catcalls, despite the fact they couldn't see anything due to the firewall.

Joke was on them -- spell missed my charcater and they got to hear an earful when they finally stopped fighting.
