It amuses, it does.
Jun. 16th, 2004 11:21 amI play on http://www.nationstates.net/, which is sort of an online game where you pretend to run a country. Every day or so they give you an issue to vote on -- whihc can range from serious things like flag-burining, education, and so on to, well... today...
"Members of a new weird religious cult, called the Order of Violet, ask for the government to appease their mighty god by offering Her a sacrifice of the human variety."
Four options follow -- one allowing it, one requiring it of all citizens, one urging that all cultists be round up and the leaders killed, and one urging reeducation on why Human Sacrifice is a Bad Thing.
The funny part is that I am playing as the leader of the Darynese government -- she and Delwyn are the two politicians I have more developed, and Mar needed more character development, since most of what I know about her is through Riki and Alri's opinions of her. Daryn's dominant religion has a number of dichotemies -- see the post I made to GJ about their religion. Among them is the dichotemy between the positive aspect of things (life, happiness and other warm fuzzy emotions) and the negative aspect of things (death, angst and other negative emotions). Guess what color happens to be the color associated wiht the negative aspect of things (and the color of Darynese blood).
It occurs to me that Xellos is also associated strongly with the color violet....
The UN forum is wanky as all hell, though.
