You know, I'm just surprised how close and comfortable I am with my mother. Today, her, Jenn and I were talking around our kitchen table -- Ben was off watching TV and in his own little world -- and the topic somehow got turned to sex and the morality of the 'friend-with-benefits'. Mom and I both said that it wasn't the sort of thing either of us would do, most likely, but we didn't see anything morally wrong with it. Jenn, the youngest person at the table, was the one who objected to it. All of a sudden, I realized that I was sitting and talking to my mother about sex, and it didn't bother me a whit. Mom told us that a lot of her friends thought that being frank with us when we were kids would come back to bite her in the butt when we grew up, but so far, I've yet to see any signs of that -- both Jenn and I think more with our heads than with our hormones and both of us know Mom would probably only get steamed if we were stupid and didn't use protection. Compare that with a lot of people my age who are still sneaking around their folks.
