Guess who got herself an Elfwood account? Go on, guess.

Optics test went reasonably well -- given the amount of complaining that CeCe did after the test -- she swears she is going to fail optics -- and the fact I was the first to finish at five minutes after when class should have gotten out, I think I did all right. Keyboard is still crappy, but I should be getting my new one soon. It's a shame to get rid of this one because the space bar is the only broken bit -- unlike my last two which worked until they didn't. I did ask the company if they sold single replacement keys (they didn't).

I am happy -- especially considering writing was my low area on standarized tests going into college. And now I got a top score on it. If I do anywhere near as well on the physics GRE, schools will be beating a path to my door.

I think this beats [livejournal.com profile] manos74's"Boyfriend Paper" hands down. It's a summary of an article that has to have something to do with chemistry -- the writer (also known as my lab partner) chose a Dr. Gott column from the paper. First warning sign -- never try to summarize an article that is shorter than the summary has to be. Consequently the writer spends half the time saying: "First I will show this. Then I will show this. Finally I will show this. *shows point 1* Okay, now I will show point 2. *showspoint 2* Finally I will show Point 3. *shows Point 3* So, I have shown points 1, 2 and 3. In conclusion, chemistry is important to our everyday lives."

In two pages I have learned that:
-- Water softeners use NaCl (or, as the Native Americans called it, salt) in some mysterious way to take out calcium and other 'hard' minerals. I think it involves superpowers.
-- The amounts of salt from said water-softening process will not affect someone who is on a low salt diet. The writer knows this because Dr. Gott said so.

No wonder the paper feels padded.

I think I went all Simon on this paper.
