Part 1: First Lines of Everything I Wrote in 2009

This includes the Yuletide Pinch Hit I did, which isn't up on other archives yet. I also found some FMA fic that needs to be posted elsewhere.

The Full List )

I have a total of 48,150* words from 28 pieces in 15 fandoms (more or less, depending on how you count Zelda fanfiction and crossovers), give or take a couple hundred. Low for me -- normally NaNoWriMo boosts my word count into five digits. Though this year was the first one I finished a multi-chapter fic in years, and I have another that needs two scenes before it goes up. Also, some new fandoms and stuff, mostly in drabbles, but a couple of longer fics. Surprisingly few drabbles, though -- normally I write a lot of those. Also, nothing original -- probably because my comic is in hiatus, and I didn't do NaNoWriMo.

I might crack 50k if you count unfinished things and such.

*Hey [insanejournal.com profile] yuuo you wrote more than I did this year!

Part II: General Trends

Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you'd predicted?
Less, since normally I write in NaNo, which gives me 50,000 words. Even without the other things I did in November, that would still set me near 75k. On the other hand, the numbers look right.

What pairing/genre/fandom did you write that you would never have predicted in 2008?
NEXTWAVE is a new one. Also, some drabbles for new fandoms (Edda of Burdens, Claymore), which I never know until I write them. And my first true crossover in years -- I did a fusion a couple of years ago, and one as a drabble joke-fic, but this was one I played straight.

What's your favorite story of the year? Not the most popular, but the one that makes you happiest?
I like 'Walking Lost', since it's a pretty little thing that gets into a character's head and explains her motivation.

Did you take any writing risks this year? (See above for unexpected pairings, etc.) What did you learn from them?
I wrote my first multi-chapter fic in a long time, though that I had been working on for ages. 'Walking Lost' was my first second-person POV piece, and 'The Weight of Secrets' was intended to be a genderqueer romance, but that didn't work too well. I'd say 'Kite-Flying Woman' was in a bit of an experimental style in that it was one side of a conversation/story-telling.

Do you have any fanfic or profic goals for the New Year?
Finish another long piece of fiction, and write some original fiction.

From my past year of writing, what was... )
