Day 06 - Most annoying anime character: Louise, Familiar of Zero
I'm going to misquote Tolstoy here. He opened Anna Karenina with the quote "Happy families are all alike; every unhappy family is unhappy in its own way." For this question, I'm going to say 'Every character I like is likable in its own way; annoying characters are all alike... and tend to break my suspension of disbelief when I rant at the writers'. I'm more likely to get annoyed at the writers for creating a character that I not only can't engage with, but isn't even someone who I can ignore or enjoy for her role in the story than to get annoyed at the character.
For example of characters I like, take Ruki Matsumoto from Digimon Tamers, Lina Inverse from Slayers, and Lafiel Abriel from Crest of the Stars. All three are tough girls who sometimes have problems showing their affection for their friends and loved ones. But, if you asked me to talk about them, I'd say a lot more than that -- I'd say how much I loved Lina's joie de vivre or how Lafiel's duty shaped her personality, or Ruki's character evolution through her friendship with Renamon and Takato and Li.
( But, take a character like this executed badly, and I'm all 'another tsundere, *yawn*'. )
