Now, watch the communities explode.
I swear, I've reached a fannish state of Zen, as my first thought is 'Yay -- this means the DVDs won't go out of production, and it might give the fandom a kick in the pants and some fresh blood'. Yes, I know about fangirls, and ship wars, and character bashing (I AM an Amelia fan and Slayers is one of the few fandoms in which I give a damn about romance) -- I know Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings, and no rerelease will ever rival that. But... I remember my first anime fandom, and I remember how badly I behaved -- and how much worse I got because there were very few good rolemodels. The best answer for that is time and the presence of calmer, older fans.
These things will pass. Old fans leave and new fans take their places. And new blood will strengthen the old.
