So, they finally named 2003 UB313. No, they did NOT call it Xena -- the IAU is a very distinguished body, and wouldn't let you name something that large after a TV character (tiny asteroids get named whatever the heck the creator wants, because they are rocks no one cares about). The IAU went with Eris, the goddess of discord and naming its moon Dysnomia, the goddess of lawlessness.

Incidentally, you probably knew that Xena Warrior Princess was played by Lucy Lawless. If not, you know now. ^_^

(Now, I'm wondering if it will get a spiffy symbol, or if that's only the provence of true planets -- astrologers and Sailor Moon fans may know that the major planets have symbols that represent them. Wiki even says that 15 asteroids have them (and has copies of the Big Four asteroids' symbols). So, that's two dwarf planets (Pluto and Ceres) that have them. Yes, I worry about silly stuff like that.)
