Amusement is hearing one of the professors say 'I don't know what he was smoking' with regards to a non-Cornell astronomer's forecasts about what a future instrument could do in a decade.
(I'm not naming names here -- because EVERYONE in astronomy knows one another. Seriously.)

More cracked out fannish dreams. This one involved Avatar (again) and the bloodbender lady (Hanna?) from next week's episode somehow using her bending to disguise herself as a young woman to do... something. Katara discovered her, and she nearly killed Katara, which caused Aang to press some kind of Avatar Cosmic Reset Button. And I thought to myself, 'God, this just killed all the suspense of the show, if the main character can not only eliminate all his mistakes by reseting, but also now no longer has to operate by the deadline'.
My dreams are very cynical about fandom and my shows, apparently.
So, I posted four stories from four fandoms to The Pit of Voles (fanfiction.net) on Friday. Out of curiosity, I checked the stats. In order of fandom popularity:
1. Got no response. Got one hit, and that might just have been me on accident. I am not surprised.
2. Got a couple of reads, and someone added it to their C2.
3. Got one review, that was actually pretty thoughtful and mentioned what the person liked about it.
4. Got three reviews -- two that were just 'nice story'/'good job' and one that mentioned my characterization -- and a couple of faves.
Good old Pit. I do like the ego boost, and the idea I raised the collective fan intelligence of the place by a bit.
NaNo project is currently over a day ahead. I'd like to get more if I could -- I still am in the comfortable zone of setting up the plot, so I can get lots of words.
