Real Life Stuff
Jun. 11th, 2009 12:05 pmMade it home, but late, so I decided to take off the morning so I could sleep in. Next time, I do not fly on Wednesday -- I have group meetings on Thursday, and I hate going into work the day after I return from a trip, when I really need to do things like get food other than pasta/rice and unpack. (I do like flying midweek, as the planes going into and out of Ithaca are nearly empty -- there were maybe 8 people on the last flight.)
I made it home, but I did have a couple of mishaps -- thunderstorms delayed my last flight and my DS has apparently vanished into the aether. -_- (I was doing so well in Rune Factory, too -_-)
The trip itself was fine -- I saw all my Lincolnite friends (::waves::) and my family. I wish I had made it a bit longer -- Friday through Tuesday weren't that relaxing for me -- but I probably shouldn't miss that much work, considering I take a long Christmas break and a couple of weekend trips. Mom pointed out that it's probably good for me to take some extended time off every six months if it's all right with my boss -- I remember my first year, I worked/took classes from January until August*, and was about ready to go crazy by July. Really, I probably would have gotten about the same amount of work done if I had taken a week off to do something that had nothing to do with work, since my productivity had gone down the tubes.
* And this was pre-meds/pre-counseling
I also got to rewatch Slayers REvolution-R with
yuuo and
kuchehexe, who noticed different things than me. For that matter, UO came up with a good theory on the replica Sword of Light that I want to ask if I can post to
theslayers for discussion.
That and hearing East Singers do a musical version of "For Good" from Wicked as part of graduation. (There was also a kid Trumble (Mom's best friend and a computer teacher at East) knew as a Special Ed kid doing a solo of "The Impossible Dream". Poor kid flubbed the first verse, but kept going.) Made up for the speeches -- I know I shouldn't expect high schoolers to be perfect, but at least one of them had at least five inspirational quotes in a five minute speech. I was about ready to applaud when Speaker #3 only used one -- keep in mind, East both had a good speech team and, instead of having the valedictorian or class officers give a speech, they have a contest.
Expect photos, soon.

Date: 2009-06-11 07:56 pm (UTC)It would also mean Pocota wasn't working in a vacuum when he came up with the thing. (You suggested it was a pre-existing Taforasian device that Pocota just had access to, but he could have assembled it while teaching himself enough theory to do so. Even if his emotional maturity hasn't much improved since he got stuck as a plushie, he had ten years to pick up more magic. Especially once things like the mage-tanks showed up and it was obvious that SOMEONE was doing something along those lines, or if he heard rumors about Sairaag's destruction.)
* In case there was an accident and the real Swordsman of Light wasn't around to kill the Demon Beast.
