Discovered the cause of my recent apathy was probably PMS -- usually I can tell because it feels somewhat like what happens when my meds are out of whack. Now I just get to play the 'how many quarters do I have for unplanned laundry?' game.

pharae gave me Legend of Zelda, FMA and Lord of the Rings.

What got you into this fandom in the first place?
- Zelda: I got into the games themselves when my little brother broke our SNES. Mom bought a new one, and A Link to the Past was the only game that came with it that we didn't own*. It was a fun game, especially since it was the first one we played with a bit more to it than 'jump through all the levels to defeat the BBEG'. Even if we just got to the Dark World before the SNES gave up the ghost. I must have liked it enough to get the Ocarina of Time, despite the fact my sister and brothers were the ones to actually beat it.
  
  Anyway, when I moved away, I didn't have a Nintendo, and wasn't good at the Gameboy games. yuuo being a Zelda fan and Ben getting a Wii inspired me to give it another shot -- I got Ben's old Gamecube and some used games, and am discovering I'm really out of practice. I'm not bad at the Zelda DS game, because it requires me only to be coordinated with a stylus.
  
  yuuo kind of got me into the fandom, but I only dabble with doodles and drabbles, so I don't consider myself in fandom.
  
  *This indirectly lead to our introduction to RPGs, as Mom rented Earthbound for us because the top-down POV reminded her of that Zelda game we kids were playing.
- FMA: I noticed a lot of cosplayers at AnimeIowa dressed as the characters and, since it was airing on TV, I gave it a shot. Discovered I liked it, since it had a good mix of stuff I liked. Still working my way through the manga.
- Lord of the Rings: My uncle gave me the books in high school when he discovered I hadn't read them. I made it a point to do so immediately. I'm not sure I ever entered the fandom proper, besides reading some fic and making some icons when I was bored.

Do you think you'll stay in this fandom or eventually move on?
- Zelda: I think as long as Nintendo keeps milking the cash cow, I'll be along for the ride, doing drabbles.
- FMA: My interest is cooled a lot, but I want to finish the manga at least. Maybe it will rekindle.
- Lord of the Rings: I question whether I ever entered the fandom proper.

Favorite episodes/books/movies/etc.?
- Zelda: Ocarina for worldbuilding, but I haven't played Twilight Princess. Phantom Hourglass for playability (except that damn Temple), and Majora's Mask for the cool plot idea. (I liked running all over the country helping people).
- FMA: I like a lot of the stand-alone episodes with Ed and Al doing stuff. Also the arc with Izumi.
- Lord of the Rings: Hard for me to split this one up. I like the trilogy better than 'The Hobbit'

Do you participate in this fandom (fanfiction, graphics, discussions)?
- Zelda: I don't know where the fandom is, but I drabble and doodle
- FMA: Used to. Would like to again, but I need to reread/rewatch
- Lord of the Rings: The fandom scares me.

Do you think that more people should get into this fandom?
Eh, I always think people who are well-behaved and interesting should get into new fandoms. I don't like saying that people shouldn't get into a fandom.
