Dec. 18th, 2003 08:11 pmI'm trying to get somehting figured out about Harry Potter before I submit a profile to another RPG...
In Harry Potter, the wizarding world is kept secret form non-wizards. However, there are exceptions. One notable one is the immediate family of wizards -- Hermione's parents and Harry's aunt, uncle and cousin know about wizards.
A less commented-on one has to be politicla figures. PoA mentions that the Prime Minister was told of Sirius Black's escape and his danger to anyone -- not just wizards. This suggests that the PM knows that the wizarding world exists, and possibly other high government officials, both in Britain and abroad. One would conjecture that there is some sort of agreement between the Muggle and Wizard governments -- the Wizard governments police thier own, and the Muggle government lets them.
So, what happens to the Wizarding government when a coup or civil war creates a new Muggle government?
This is what I get for wanting to play a Spanish witch in a 1940's RPG. I did do my homework on the Spanish Civil War, at least.
