Grr to LJ for being down last night. I had a post, but I saved it, thankfully:
First, a note. If you are one of my RL friends and are trying to call me, always assume my little brother doesn't give me the message. It's a safe assumption
We had fun getting me home last night. First, we (
yuuo,
crisi83, and
uncreativity) drove a block from Crisi's place, when Crisi realised her tire was flat. So we returned there, and got Yuuo's car. At 56th Street, the battery light went on and all the lights (headlights, turn signals, the ones on the dashboard) started to dim and the radio stopped working. We pulled into the Circuit City parking lot, turned off the car, and couldn't get it started again. I called my mom and Crisi called her friend Chris for rides home. The worst part is that everyone but me was in their pyjammas -- don't worry -- everyone got their cars taken care of today.
Finally decided on full names for my characters:
Delwyn: Lord Delwyn Hywel, King of Hinoiri
Kimiko: General Faris Kimiko Al Fahd
Philandre: General Philandre Murchadh
Shashi: Shashi Matsushita, Gate Mage, Gold Class
Now, to work on the other characters that haven't appeared yet. Debating on what culture to take my merfolk's surnames from -- I've used Greek, Celtic/Gaelic, Welsh, English, Italian, Arabic, Japanse, and Eastern European for other races, and don't want to use them again -- problem is that merfolk are from many cultures' legends (English, Greek (the neirids for one), Japanese... pretty much any place that lives near water)... maybe I should go Danish or Scandinavian... Hans Christian Anderson was from Denmark, wasn't he, or is my brain mixing up people? He wrote The Little Mermaid, right?
I spent two hours commenting on dualities and trinitiies in The Two Towers... it was for a class, though. Part of me wants to become a Tolkien geek -- you know, read the Simmarilion (Sp?) and all that route. But not now -- too much to do.
