So, yesterday someone in the Borders manga aisle asked me out of nowhere if it was true that Japanese was read backward -- her boyfriend/male friend/brother/some guy had just told her this and she didn't believe him. I also managed to ride on the same bus to the mall as two people I know. Yeah, Ithaca isn't that big, and I live on the downtown-mall bus route (at least on weekends -- the route changes on weekends to better swing by all the dorms instead of the part of campus with the classrooms. As a result, the bus stop where I live moves about a block.)

I had more thoughts, but I can't think of them. D&D continues to be fun. Dave is talking about running a one-shot of Paranoia, and I am temped to see how obnoxiously perky I can be while playing Paranoia.

I missed the Avatar finale tonight, but will catch it tomorrow.

So, I played 4th edition for the first time last night.

Which means you all want to here my thoughts on it. )

Dave-from-down-the-hall: *sticks his head into my office* Hey, Rebecca, fighter okay with you?

Me: Fighter is fine.

Dave: Great! *leaves*

Akshay-my-officemate: What was that for?

Aren't out of context conversations great?

In other news, I will be trying 4th edition D&D this Friday. It's the GM's first time GMing, and a lot of the players are novices to the whole console RPG thing.

Guess what class I'm being. XD

So, I'm on a mild dose of SSRIs for anxiety. (Thankfully, what side effects from the drugs have on me went away with use -- for the first month I was dead on my feet in the evenings, thanks to the drowsiness. Now I'm not even noticing it. Well, I still have the vivid dreaming, but I kinda like that.) I think I've forgotten my dose for the last couple of days. And, this morning, when I was answering RPG posts*, I was watching myself posts and noticing that I was a lot more anxious about how things were worded, and not being mis-interpreted. Which is pretty much classic anxiety for me.

* The main RPG I'm in is in a big climactic battle. Four of my five characters are involved -- the fifth deciding that wherever the fighting is, is where he doesn't want to be. Having one selfish character is fun, but he's a pain to get involved in plots.

In conclusion: I need to remember to take my bloody meds.

I am pleased that it's not showing up in my work, despite the fact my model is refusing to work. (I think I can fix it, once I give it a bit more thought.)

I'm in two RPGs right now, [insanejournal.com profile] digital_dive and [insanejournal.com profile] quaquenocte. Both are multiverse games, though DD allows original characters. I'm playing Michael Carpenter in QN, and Zelgadis Greywords, Harry Dresden, and Ken Ichijouji in DD.

Offline, i finally got around to calling Adobe Customer Service about my old Flash disk, and despite the heroic attempts of the Customer Service Rep (seriously, I am kicking myself for not writing down her name -- she was awesome for putting up for me), we were unable to track down my serial number. Flash remains expensive, but the student discount is excellent -- seriously, Adobe will sell me a $700 dollar program for $250. I'd love a free, legal alternative (if you know of any that run on Macs, please post links), since I'm all for supporting freeware, but that's not a bad deal. I could even splurge and update my copies of Photoshop and Illustrator, and get Dreamweaver and Flash for $500. I even intend it for partial use for work -- pretty animations to explain concepts don't make themselves.

So I bought the sequal to Golden Sun when I was back in Nebraska -- I saw it used and couldn't resist. One of the features of the game is that you can import yoru guy from the first game, either by linking two Game Boy Advances together or by Password. The full password is 260 characters long to get complete data -- it''s only 61 for partial data.

I have tried at least four times to get this password in, and have yet to get one that's viable. I know enough about encryption to know that there's probably a failsafe against typos in there, but when I've checked and double checked the password and my entry of it, I'm this close to wondering if this is why the game was in the Used bin.

If anyone knows anything that would be helpful, pass it on.
