May. 21st, 2004 03:53 pmI am back in town.
My trip was fun. I spent far too much time walking (the Irish roads are scary. So is my dad -- hiking every day is NOT a fun vacation). I saw far too many sheep. I also found out my Dad's family thinks I act like a female, younger version of my uncle Andy, which can't be that bad as he likes science fiction and roleplaying (he gave me some of his old Larry Niven books and two League of Extrodinary Gentlement graphic novels) and has the very cool job of computer security -- he figures out how to break into computers, then how to keep other peopel from doign what he did. Being favorably compared to a relative that can take down the internet is always good. I spent a bit of time with my cousins Laura and Katie who are a few years younger than my sister and myself -- Laura helped foster a tea addiction in me. I saw Van Helsing with Laura and Jenn in a very nice multiplex in Dublin. Tell me I am not to write a Van Helsing/Hellsing crossover. Please. I liked the sidekick friar character -- he cracked me up.
I got a bunch of roleplay related work and reading done, but no writing or drawing. Boo. I also had one of what I call 'story-dreams'. Rarly I have dreams that are so vivd and long and details that they set up a story and could actually be used as a premise for one (after they are reworked and edited and refined of course). I had one on Sunday, and I will tell you about it later.
The trip back was okay, except for the fact we were delayed 4 hours in Chicago because of weather -- it stormed, and the plane we were to go to Omaha in was diverted to Milwakee. We ha to wait until the plane got into Chicago then we waited on the runway for the backlog to clear. We managed to get home at 2:30 AM -- which would be about 24 hours that I I stayed up. I did get an impressive view of thunderheads over a town and stars above them (Scorpius -- it was very recognizeable) on the flight out.
I will be in town for a week now, so feel free to drop by, all you IRL friends. I have chocolate and seashels and will be generous with both.
